Minnaert Resonances for Bubbles in Soft Elastic Materials

چکیده
Minnaert resonance is a well known physical phenomenon and it has many important applications, in particular the effective realisation of acoustic metamaterials using bubbly mediums recent years. In this paper, motived by resonance, we consider low-frequency for bubbles embedded soft elastic materials. This hybrid process that couples wave propagations. By delicately subtly balancing parameters as geometry bubble, show can (approximately) occur rather general constructions. Our study poses great potential negative materials mediums.

Elastic Vector Solitons in Soft Architected Materials.
We demonstrate experimentally, numerically, and analytically that soft architected materials can support the propagation of elastic vector solitons. More specifically, we focus on structures comprising a network of squares connected by thin and highly deformable ligaments and investigate the propagation of planar nonlinear elastic waves. We find that for sufficiently large amplitudes two compon...
متن کاملFree energy wells for small gas bubbles in soft deformable materials.
Thermodynamic expressions are derived for the system relative Gibbs free energy, and the relative Gibbs free energy per bubble, for all possible equilibrium bubble states that can form in a soft slightly rigid material, initially supersaturated with a dissolved inert gas (N(2)). While the thermodynamic manipulations are exact, the final expressions are approximate, due to an approximation made ...
متن کاملSoft-materials elastic and shear moduli measurement using piezoelectric cantilevers
We have developed a soft-material elastic modulus and shear modulus sensor using piezoelectric cantilevers. A piezoelectric cantilever is consisted of a highly piezoelectric layer, e.g., lead– zirconate–titanate bonded to a nonpiezoelectric layer, e.g., stainless steel. Applying an electric field in the thickness direction causes a piezoelectric cantilever to bend, generating an axial displacem...
متن کاملElastic interactions of active cells with soft materials.
Anchorage-dependent cells collect information on the mechanical properties of the environment through their contractile machineries and use this information to position and orient themselves. Since the probing process is anisotropic, cellular force patterns during active mechanosensing can be modeled as anisotropic force contraction dipoles. Their buildup depends on the mechanical properties of...
متن کاملCharacterizing the elastic property distribution of soft materials nondestructively
Soft materials have the advantage that their subsurface structure may be imaged utilizing imaging modalities such as ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography (CT) scans, and optical coherence tomography. In recent decades subsurface displacement fi elds were successfully measured using these imaging modalities. These displacement fi elds are of time-harmonic, transient, or qu...
